Cembonit cladding panels from Cembrit have recently been used in the refurbishment of a performing arts block at the Weald of Kent Grammar School. Supplied by Marco Industries, the Pearl-coloured panels have rejuvenated the building facade, whilst blending seamlessly with the existing buildings and classrooms.
The Weald of Kent Grammar School is a girls school located in Tonbridge. The high academic standards are matched by the high standard of facilities provided for the pupils. The installation of the 750m² of Cembonit cladding was carried out by BBS Construction of Maidstone.
Ray Connolly of Marco Industries, a leading supplier of architectural cladding throughout the South East explains why Cembonit offered the perfect solution: Occasionally we get projects where something special is required, this was one of those. We needed a panel that could offer effective long term colour stability performance and ease of installation whilst combining the particular aesthetic requirements for this project. Cembonit muted range of colours offered the perfect selection and the finished project looks great.
Cembonit is through coloured, strong, durable and lightweight, and provides an attractive, cost-effective and maintenance-free Class 0 cladding panel, which is ideal for a variety of decorative cladding applications. Cembonit transforms old facades at low cost, without losing their original appeal. Cembonit can be used for new and old buildings alike, either alone or in combination with other materials. It is produced from cement, sand, cellulose, wollastonite and water glass and is impregnated with an aqueous, hydrophobic liquid, which provides the sheets with a water and dirt repellent surface.
Using skills built up over 80 years, Cembrit offers a wide range of cladding panels, corrugated sheet and natural and man-made roofing slate. Quality levels at group factories are rigorously maintained to high standards with many products manufactured under the control of ISO 9001 and British Board of Agrément. Cembrit UK is a member of Cembrit Holding A/S (formerly the Dansk Eternit Holding A/S) of Denmark, one of Europes major building material producers of fibre reinforced cement products for the roofing and cladding industry. The ultimate parent company FL Smith this year celebrates its 125 year anniversary.
