Cembrit provides cladding advice

Cembrit's Cemwood cladding has been installed on a community centre in Neath. Part of a mixed use development, the new building has replaced the old temporary site for Melin Advice Centre. The Cemwood cladding, specified in bright Sand Yellow, has helped create an eye-catching and attractive new entrance for the facility.

The Neath centre is designed to give residents a place for support and advice, while also offering fun holiday activities for the local children. With an increasing number of people relying on the centre, the temporary portable building needed to be replaced. Holbrook Construction of Brigend was the design and build contractor and specified 220 lengths of Cemwood for the project.

“We worked with Cemwood on a project a few years ago and were really pleased with the end result" says Steve James, Director of Holbrook Construction. "We decided that it would be perfect for the centre and the bright finish provides an attractive easy to identify entrance for the building.”

The new building is part of a phased development which sees Costal Housing Group introduce seventeen new apartments and eight terrace houses to the area. Steve continues: “We are involved the second phase of this project and have again specified Cemwood. We believe this product will offer a fantastic aesthetic appearance to the overall development.”

Cemwood is a wood effect cladding designed to replicate the look of traditional timber whilst retaining the aesthetic appeal of real wood. It is a long-lasting replacement to worn out timber planks or artificial looking plastic cladding. Cemwood has a textured appearance and can be supplied in grey for on-site painting or staining, or it can be supplied pre coloured to further save on site construction time. Pre-coloured boards are available in a wide choice (any RAL colour) with most shades guaranteed for colour stability. Cemwood is unaffected by heat or sunlight, something that can limit the colours available in plastic cladding. This combination gives low lifecycle costs and reduced maintenance bills.
