Having a nice school environment is something everyone can relate to at some point in their lives. Chilton Foliat Primary School are no exception, as a small village school in Hungerford with vast outdoor space they set about putting measures in place for pupils in the Early Years group to have an interesting and practical outdoor area whilst keeping it functional and aesthetically pleasing.

With a few issues of flooding within the playground the school sought funding along with their local Rivers Trust, Action for the River Kennet (ARK). They then enlisted the services of Wendy Allen Designs who specialises in creative rainwater solutions to come up with a scheme.

To overcome the difficulties of this particular project, Wendy Allen knew exactly how to solve it. Having worked with SureSet resin bound paving on previous works, it was clear it would be the perfect solution for this type of project due to its design capabilities, smooth seamless finish and its permeability.

The large playground was installed first using 6mm Chestnut from the Natural Aggregate range over an existing asphalt base and where tree roots were present a free draining stone was the base beneath the resin bound paving. The second installation consisted of a natural stream feature using coloured recycled glass from the Spectrum range. This section of the project looked fantastic and represented a realistic feature in the playground.

After working with Chilton Foliat Primary School, SureSet made a donation towards the new school dining benches enabling the children to have an improved lunchtime experience and would now fit the whole school comfortably.
