The Outdoor Deck Company is first-to-market in the UK with a fully Class A Fire-Rated External Pedestal Flooring System.

The system comprises aluminium support rails (one third the weight of steel) on height adjustable steel pedestals, with all the associated fittings and components being either metal or flame-retardant synthetic rubber.

Onto this floating sub-frame, they can install traditional stone or concrete pavers, the much lighter and stronger 20mm external porcelain tiles, or a new range of aluminium deck boards.

Over the last year the company have become increasingly involved in the design and supply of fire rated external floors and cladding.

The Outdoor Deck Company already offer several Class B rated solutions - including pedestals, support rails, porcelain pavers, and timber or composite deck boards.

Since the start of 2019 it has become increasingly clear that the fire regulations affecting the industry are going to become significantly more stringent.

Non-combustible materials that were once seen as essentially specialist products are now going to become an everyday specification item.

Currently the assumption is that ongoing revisions to the old fire regulations will result in an industry where all materials on every part of the vertical surface of a building – contributing to the spread of fire- will need to be Class A.

The new sub-frame system will still allow them to install raised floors (from 60mm or more) of build-up, while the options on compatible surface materials still offer hundreds of textures, designs and sizes.
