Cleeve School, Gloucester

Cleeve School, Gloucester

Architect: Cube Design Ltd
Contractor: Norwest Holst
Client: Gloucestershire County Council
Type of works: manufacture and installation of Faber 1800 Blackout Blinds, 1800 RTS blackout rooflight, Adaptium RL10 and DV venetian blinds.

Remodelled Cleeve School, with its new 2,500m2 extension, is housing Science, Music, Admin and Learning resources. This extension provides innovative teaching spaces that challenge the way subjects are taught. An example of this is the large laboratory area, which reflects both the changing science curriculum and the school’s innovative approach. The building itself will also be utilized as a teaching tool with items such as a glass lift with the mechanism exposed, an ETFE roof, photovoltaic cells and rainwater harvesting.

The Faber DV Venetian blinds were used to provide instant privacy within the window panels. This system is simple to use and avoids blind damage within the classroom. Faber designed bespoke head-box and channels for the blackout/rooflight blinds to overcome the various reveal obstructions. The Faber 1800 Blackout rooflight blinds were RTS controlled.
