Type of works: Design and installation of the racking in the New Records store in Mansfield
E-Z-Rect are a leading manufacturer of shelving systems and have designed and installed the racking in the New Records Store at the Coal Authority Mining Heritage Centre, in Mansfield.
The Building, housing coal mining records, contains over 10km of multiple-level shelving and was built strictly in accordance with BS 5454:2000 "Recommendations for the storage and exhibition of archival documents".
The National Archives (tna) has inspected the Mining Heritage Centre and appointed the new Records Stores as a designated place of deposit for public records under the terms s.4(1) of the Public Records Act 1958. The tna also confirmed that that Coal Authority now holds one of the three largest collections of deposited public records in the UK.
Brian Thronton, Records Manager of the Mining Heritage Centre said, "the transfer of records into the new store was achieved without disruption to the service and was completed to time and budget".
From a single bay to an entire multiple-level facility, E-Z-Rect can design and install a storage system to suit all requirements. Their dedicated projects division team offers a planning service to help maximise the use of storage space, and they also have teams of professional installation teams across the UK.
