Coast to Coast walk completed

Tony Ford, project manager at Leaderflush Shapland recently completed the coast to coast walk, travelling 192 miles from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hoods Bay in North Yorkshire over 14 days, raising over £4,000 for Cancer Research UK. Tony walked in memory of his wife Margaret Ford, who was diagnosed with cancer last year and sadly passed away a few weeks later. The couple were married eight days short of 30 years. Tony and Margaret often used to holiday around the Whitby area and talked about doing the coast to coast walk when they retired. Mr Ford said knowing he was doing the walk in Margaret’s memory would inspire him throughout the trip.

Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity and funds 4,800 researchers, doctors and nurses that are dedicated to preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. Cancer research UK’s groundbreaking charity work is funded entirely by the public taking scientific research all the way from the laboratory bench to the patient’s bedside.

Nick Hubbard, HR Partner for Leaderflush Shapland is also taking part in a similar coast to coast challenge in June, cycling 225 miles over 2 days from Whitehaven in the Lakes to Bridlington on the East Coast. Nick and his friends are raising money for Callum’s cabin, a charity that offers a quaint retreat to help support families dealing with this terrible disease.
