SE Controls was selected by Glamalco Aluminium to provide a natural and smoke ventilation system on the new campus belonging to Colchester Institute in north-east Essex.
The architecture of the new campus wasdesigned by R H Partnerships to provide a modern eye-catching building, incorporating the latest technology. The campus will also provide access to facilities such as a music hall, sports gym and top class food halls to sit alongside the established restaurants. The first phase of the construction work is already underway and is due for completion at the end of the year.
To ensure the safety of occupants in the event of a fire, and to improve the indoor air quality, SE Controls' brief was to design, install and commission a smoke and natural ventilation system that offered automatic opening windows.
SE Controls supplied 512 SECO 24 35 window actuators that were linked to the efficient and flexible OS2 control system to regulate the natural air movement and to provide effective smoke extraction in the event of a fire.
