College welcomes Fujitsu to training suite grand opening

Glasgow Kelvin College welcomed Martyn Ives, the Fujitsu General Air Conditioning Technical Manager to the opening of the Fujitsu training facility.

The college features the state-of-the-art Fujitsu technology in its fully equipped Air Conditioning and Refrigeration training workshop. With a range of multi-units and VRF Unit, the practical experience for SVQ students will be unrivalled in Scotland.

As many of the College’s students are apprentices with some of the principal installers in Scotland, the benefits to Scottish business will be exceptional, ensuring that their employees have up-to-the-minute industry standard skillsets.

This partnership with Fujitsu will ensure that the shared facility becomes a key provider of high-end technical skills and places the College firmly at the forefront of delivering training on cutting-edge equipment. With the introduction of cleaner, climate-friendly technologies in the near future, Glasgow Kelvin is looking forward to working closely with Fujitsu on any new developments.

Glasgow Kelvin College is the key provider of nationally accessible vocational training and core-skills learning in the north and east of the city. It delivers high-quality introductory to degree-level programmes to around 16,000 students each year from four campus buildings and through a large network of community-based centres.

Engaging with many communities which experience high levels of deprivation, the College works with partners and employers to deliver relevant industry-standard skills and create inclusive progression opportunities in a vibrant and sustainable environment for the learners, communities and stakeholders which it serves.

Fujitsu’s Technical Manager, Martyn Ives, said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to be working with Glasgow Kelvin who have a great reputation both in the area and nationally and we look forward to working them to provide quality training for students and businesses from across Scotland and beyond.”
