Contemporary Folding Door System in East Sussex

Contemporary Folding Door System in East Sussex

This 1930’s coastal property in East Sussex required a spacious solution from which to enjoy the garden. The chosen orangery design is greatly enhanced with the inclusion by the architect of a modern folding door system from Westbury, allowing an entire wall to be opened to the garden.

The homeowner required an innovative timber glazed door solution providing maximum impact and access to the South/West facing garden, recently transformed with striking landscaping and lighting. The careful planning of matching interior and exterior stone and flooring levels, allow a feeling that the patio and garden feel part of the interior.

With five active folding leaves in this system using Hafele gear to provide a smooth operation for all users, it means the full expanse of the opening is folded out of the way. In summer months this has created the perfect entertaining space, with double glazed sealed units and insulated door panels, the doors offer a high insulation value in compliance with current building regulation, providing a bright and warm environment during winter.

Made using engineered timber for its durability and stability, the doors were design with simple profile and narrow bolection moulding providing a contemporary look and feel.

The property also benefits from a second matching set of folding doors opening up the kitchen to outside dining area.

A complex product that must be perfect in order to work effectively, Westbury take great care to ensure folding door systems are manufactured to precise measurements, using only quality ironmongery and mechanics. All doors are fully weather-sealed using either a foam, brush or rubber weather strip depending on door type. Doors and frames have three coats of paint prior to delivery.
