Enhancing patient care through acoustic design
As part of a £28 million investment in its Urgent Care and A&E departments, Arrowe Park Hospital has transformed key healthcare environments to support improved patient care and staff wellbeing. Acoustic design formed an important part of the project, helping to create spaces that promote privacy, comfort and effective communication.
A range of acoustic solutions was specified across both clinical and non-clinical areas. In treatment and consultation spaces, Ecophon Hygiene Advance™ A was chosen for its excellent sound absorption performance and ability to withstand frequent cleaning with strong disinfectants. Achieving Class A or B sound absorption, the system helps ensure conversations and treatments remain discreet, supporting patient dignity and confidentiality.
Acoustic performance was equally important in staff and support areas. On the top floor, Ecophon Combison™ Uno A was installed in offices adjoining family rooms to improve speech privacy and reduce sound transmission between spaces. Elsewhere, Ecophon Advantage™ A was used in offices and corridors to create a quieter, more comfortable working environment.
By combining a range of ceiling solutions tailored to the requirements of each space, the project delivers long-term durability alongside high acoustic performance. The result is a healthcare environment that supports patient recovery, enhances privacy and contributes to a more positive experience for patients, visitors and staff.
