Crown Paints have helped a handful of deserving projects to give their facilities a much-needed lick of paint this year.

As well as donating directly through its network of over 140 Crown Decorating Centres, the company makes donations via Nimtech, a dedicated social enterprise based at Crown’s Darwen manufacturing facility.

Nimtech donated approximated 20 litres of paint to Halton Haven Hospice, a Runcorn-based palliative care facility. The donated paint, in neutral greys and pastel tones, all named after spring flowers such as Primrose and Poppy, allowed the hospice to redecorate 21 of its rooms in January 2018.

Crown’s Hull plant also donated 300 litres of paint to Middle Child Theatre, an innovative theatre company based in Hull which combines original live music with bold new writing and aims to make theatre accessible to all.

Middle Child used the donated paint to refurbish Darley’s, the theatre company’s rehearsal and workspace. A team of local volunteers undertook the repainting works, including some volunteers who had helped out as part of Hull 2017. The huge refurbishment included painting eight rooms in the space.

The Crown Decorating Centre network was also on hand to give generously: the Carlisle branch, located on Shaddongate, donated a large quantity of paint and sundries to local charity People First, an independent advocacy organisation that supports those with learning difficulties, mental health problems, homelessness, and dementia to make their voices heard.

People First was moving to new premises in the city, and the Carlisle Crown Decorating Centre donated matt paint, fillers, caulk, primers, eggshell and satin paints to help the not-for-profit organisation spruce up its new home.
