Custom Canopy for Girlington Primary School

Custom Canopy for Girlington Primary School

Girlington Primary chose Setter Shelters to design and build a distinctive outdoor learning space to brighten up their aging playing area.

The shelter brings an exciting new aspect to the play area, and really livens it up. The curved beam canopy was of particular interest to Girlington, as it creates a more interesting structure than one with standard straight rafters. The roofing sheets provide shelter from the rain or the sun's UV rays, and diffuse the sunlight to prevent heat build-up underneath the canopy.

A newer addition to the customisation that Setter offers is roller-shutter doors, attached to the beams of the canopy. These shutters come with multiple benefits for the client. The roller shutter doors, rolled up but visible in the article pictures, provide a level of security for the school that not many shelter specialists provide.

The shutters can be lowered with ease, to effectively create an extension to the classroom. They can also be locked, meaning teaching resources can be left out safely overnight. The canopy is attached seamlessly to the building itself, ensuring that it is watertight.

Girlington were more than happy with their new outdoor classroom, and Setter are proud of another job well done.
