Working with Architects Wilkinson Eyre, who designed the £116 million office development overlooking the main plaza of the Regents Place development, Boon Edam were able to provide the perfect security solution without compromising on design.
Boon Edam Specification Manager Jason Barnes, worked directly with the Architect in order to produce the ideal solution, taking into consideration their desired requirements, as well as looking at practicalities regarding usage and maintained security. Initially gathering ideas discussing possibilities of bespoke features, such as integrated recessed lift display units, shaped cabinets and glass tops amongst others, several visits to previous Boon Edam installations with similar product were hosted, and by seeing previously installed Boon Edam solutions in action, this assisted the Architect in pulling together a relevant custom design for Regents Place.
In order to get the design stage finalised Boon Edam were able to provide the Architect with relevant design information which included CAD blocks, a custom NBS specification as well as drawing up budget prices and confirmation of additional bespoke items that Boon Edam could incorporate into the designs should they be required.
In order to carry through the angular design of the reception area, which was incorporated by the Architect into all the fittings including reception desk, the security barriers cabinets were constructed with angled ends allowing them to fit seamlessly. In addition, Boon Edam supplied the glass barrier work, which incorporated 19mm glass that was held at sub floor level with steel angles and finished with stainless steel floor trims.
Installation was managed by a dedicated Project Manager, Dave Lomas, who worked on the installation from start to finish along with Boon Edam's fully experienced team of technicians.
The final installation consisted of 3 banks, totalling 13 cabinets, of custom design stainless steel Swinglanes. One bank of lanes are standard width, and the other two banks consist of DDA lanes which, due to their two wing configuration, are suitable for deliveries and disabled access. To complete the installation, the DDA lanes were installed with low level card readers on the entry side, as well as additional remote controls and push buttons located at the reception desks, allowing the lanes to be managed remotely from across the atrium.
