Cyclepods secure Streetpod deal with East Midlands Trains

Streetpod trial at the East Midlands Trains head office proves its both secure and effective.

As part of a 200 Streetpod purchase deal with East Midlands Trains (EMT), a single Streetpod was installed amongst standard bike racks at the EMT head office. This allowed EMT to test and trial the product to their own independent standards.

During the trial several bikes were stolen from the standard bike rack however, despite trying, the thief could not steal a bike from the Streetpod. As a result of this unsuccessful attempt EMT decided to start purchasing Streetpods immediately.

Ken Millar, Head of Purchasing for East Midlands Trains said: “If you look closely you can see that attempts have been made to remove the back wheel. Whilst the wheel was removed from the frame (dismantling of the brake is further evidence of attempted theft) the cycle could not be removed any further.”

The East Midlands Trains Customer Service Director, David Horne had this to say: “This is a fantastic product that will be very beneficial to our cyclists. Not only is it 100% green, which supports our objective to provide greener travel, but the single locking facility makes it even more secure, providing maximum bike protection for our cyclists.
