The Project
Pop Up Power Supplies Ltd® were proud to supply power solutions to Carrickfergus Castle, a beautifully preserved Norman stronghold located on the northern shore of Belfast Lough, County Antrim. Built in the 12th century, Carrickfergus Castle is one of the best-preserved medieval structures in Ireland and plays a central role in the region’s heritage tourism.
Open to the public year-round, the castle features historical displays, guided tours, and original cannons dating back to the 17th century. To support a variety of outdoor functions and events, Pop Up Power Supplies® was approached to provide a reliable, discreet, and efficient power infrastructure.
For this site, 325mm stainless steel power bollards were supplied—designed to deliver safe, outdoor electrical access for lighting, catering, and events arrangement, without compromising the visual integrity of the historic environment.
All variations are engineered for long-term external use, with painted finishes for extra weather resistance. Their refined appearance ensures they blend seamlessly into heritage locations like Carrickfergus Castle, while still providing the practical utility needed for modern events.
In locations where traditional generators would be too noisy, visually intrusive, or environmentally unsuitable, Pop Up Power bollards provide an ideal alternative. By integrating clean power access discreetly into the site, they help to maintain the authenticity of the setting while enabling safe and scalable outdoor power.
Carrickfergus Castle joins a growing list of historic sites across the UK and Ireland—such as Edinburgh Castle and Chiswick House—that rely on Pop Up Power Supplies® for sensitive outdoor power solutions.
