Do you want a glossy floor? [Blog]

A blog written by The Solid Wood Flooring Company

How to create a sheen and slight gloss on herringbone and basket weave parquet flooring.

The Parquet flooring range from the Solid Wood Flooring Company utilises a UV oiled cured finish which seals the grain and cell structure of the wood.

The Solid Wood Flooring Company keep their finished gloss levels to 5% as this means the floor retains a more natural look, but some client’s want more of a “Silk” or “Satin” finish. This is easily achieved by using a satin hard wax oil which can be applied by using a buffing machine with a white pad.

ONLY USE A PROFESSIONAL FLOOR FINISHER TO DO THIS.

If you do not use a professional wood flooring specialist in finishing floors it could end up “Patchy” and “Sticky”.

You will need to use a good quality satin hard wax oil to create this beautiful finish. The buffing machine creates friction and the oil acts as a lubricant. If you use too much and it will never fully dry because of the UV cured Oil finish & too little it will not be effective.

Maybe you can remember people cleaning floors in schools with buffing machines, or polishing old tiles to achieve this effect.

This must be done when all other works and workmen have finished everything in the house or apartment.

DO NOT RUSH to get this done you will only be disappointed afterwards.
