Drainage Channels Supplied for Leigh Academy

Project name: Leigh Academy
Project description: Development of a new Education Academy and all hard surfaces

Located in the center of Blackheath in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Leigh Academy Blackheath was formerly the site of a school. The new academy will provide accommodation for 900 secondary school students and a full 250-intake sixth form.

Leigh Academies Trust's newest school is the most recent addition to the Leigh Academies Trust's (LAT) family of exemplary schools in Kent and South East London. LAT implement a school-in-a-school initiative at all of their secondary academies by following the LAT homeschool model, dividing the student body into 3 schools, each with a dedicated physical space, a social space, and a teaching space.

The new building will provide over 8,850 square meters of high-quality, 21st-century internal learning atmosphere intended for pupils over three storeys, with 1 level of dedicated college level per floor and shared teaching areas split between them.

The kids' accommodation is centered around an open air courtyard, a safe haven for participants with flexible pathways and access to natural light. The corridor visible from the entrance of this school runs unobstructed into the courtyard, providing a line of sight through the building to the classrooms within.

This project explored the use of instant circulation modeling to identify insight into the layout, position, and anticipated congestion of internal areas. Office and workroom stations were strategically laid out along circulation lines to facilitate the safeguarding of all students in all areas of the school.

The space near the front entrance of the community centers makes for a convenient gathering place for local individuals, groups, and clubs.
