Dublin Port Tunnel

Type of works: supply and installation of purpose built stainless-steel cross passage and commercial grade fire doors.

In 2004/5 Booth Industries was employed to supply a series of purpose built stainless-steel cross passage and commercial grade fire doors for the Dublin Port Tunnel, in a contract worth circa. £2m.

The Dublin Port Tunnel, built to provide a road link between the main port to the South and the motorway to the North of the City, was the largest civil engineering project carried out in Ireland. The twin bore tunnel, which is over 5.7km long, was fitted with high integrity, emergency exit fire doors for both public safety and commercial vehicle escape for which Booth Industries designed ten different bulkhead types and door assemblies incorporating 135 varying designs. As part of the contract Booth also designed, supplied and installed commercial grade fire doors and screens on Emergency Niches located every 250m along its length.

The total Booth contract was carried out on a fastrack basis and completed on time.
