The University wanted a paving material to provide a consistent treatment to link the disparate collection of buildings across the Universitys Stockton Road Site.
Completed in six sequential phases by Laing ORourke to an overall masterplan by Space Group Landscape Architects, the Science Site Environmental Improvements project utilised a palette of Andover Washed Silver Grey pre-cast concrete block paving in a variety of sizes.
The project was successfully completed in autumn of 2011. Nancy Corbett, Associate Landscape Architect for Space, said: We are very pleased with the change in character resulting from the Andover pavement. The campus spaces now appear brighter, legible and more pedestrian-friendly.
A further new build project along the northern edge of the site will provide Library and Law Facilities in a stunning new Gateway Building to designs by Space Group Architects and Landscape Architects. The SSEI palette of materials has been replicated and the project is scheduled for completion in the autumn of 2012.
