Planus Accoya™ rooflight from Lumen was chosen for this single story extension, which would open up the magnificent views of the surrounding countryside in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

After a 4-month renovation project, the flat roof extension has created a bright new living space, which incorporates a new lounge, dining and kitchen area.

The bespoke Planus Accoya™ rooflight (designed for use on a flat or low pitch roof) was hand crafted by Lumen to the exact specifications of the client. The 2864mm wide by 1469mm high rooflight is constructed from Accoya timber and benefits from excellent stability, durability, UV resistance and a very long life.

Due to the large size of the rooflight, the Accoya™ provided a lighter framing structure which allowed the introduction of a high specification triple glazed, self-cleaning, Pilkington unit with a 6mm toughened Pilkington Activ Sunshade neutral outer.

Lumen also supplied an insulated kerb upstand, which made life easier for the builder and offered an exact fit of the bespoke rooflight design. As part of Lumen’s bespoke design, differing internal and external colours were also specified, rather than just a single option. What was opted for was an RAL.7024 Graphite Grey external, with an RAL.9010 white finish on the inside. Lumen also supplied a custom made, remotely operated electric blind, to match the colour scheme chosen.
