Aldi has made a significant impact on the supermarket sector in recent years, with a steadfast dedication to quality and environmental responsibility that extends well beyond their grocery offerings. Aldi prioritises minimising environmental impact across all facets of their business, from their buildings and logistics to their operations, achieving carbon neutrality since January 2019.
Project Year: 2024
Product: FAAC Airslide Automatic Sliding Door
Project Background: Aldi successfully developed a new store in Buxton, Derbyshire and as with any supermarket, the new Aldi store faced challenges related to energy loss, uncomfortable drafts and external pollutants. Additionally, due to the store being located in the beautiful picturesque peak district, there’s a high chance of extreme weather conditions, and maintaining a consistent indoor temperature posed a significant challenge. With a focus on enhancing customer experience, optimising energy efficiency, and maintaining a clean and comfortable indoor environment, they knew they had just the solution for their needs.
Solution: To address these challenges, they opted to install the FAAC Airslide Automatic Sliding Door system. The Airslide system offers a unique combination of automatic door operation and integrated air curtain technology – and is the sole automatic sliding door on the market with this feature. This innovative solution promised to provide superior performance in terms of energy efficiency, indoor comfort, and protection against external pollutants.
The air curtain serves as a barrier, shielding the entrance from cold in winter and heat in summer. This solution, tailored for automatic entrances, effectively retains indoor air, contributing to reduced energy consumption. The Airslide system integrates automatic opening and air curtain functionalities into a single unit, offering clear aesthetic and functional benefits. Its streamlined design facilitates seamless integration into various architectural settings.
They helped Aldi achieve significant improvements in enhancing indoor comfort, energy efficiency (equating to energy savings), improved air quality and a cleaner internal environment in the store.
