Erik invited WoodUpp into his home for a tour and a coffee. Erik, his wife, Anne Sviatchenko and two children live in a minimalistic house. WoodUpp were happy that Erik and his wife welcomed the company and they gladly shared their ideas about their home decor.

Home is where our family gathers.

There is no doubt of Erik’s style. It expresses in the way he dresses and there is lots of evidence of it in his home.

Stringent and minimalistic is how Eric would describe the interior design of his home.

However, it is also important that his home be cozy and welcoming for his friends and family. A place they can relax and enjoy themselves.

This is a very nice home you have here Erik, what does that mean for you and your family?

Having an aesthetic and pleasing home is important for me as a footballer and as a person. This is where our family gathers, so it is important that we can relax here.

Being cozy is very important, but we also love having it aesthetically pleasing. This is our oasis, so we paid attention to every detail.

We did not hold back when we decided to go with this interior decor for our home that we love so much. It has been a huge investment in terms of time and money to get it exactly where we want it. It has become our dream home.

From the very beginning, the idea was to have a cozy and minimalistic interior design.

I think we have successfully reached that goal.

The huge white walls are broken up with huge collages and pictures. Erik’s father is an artist Sergei Sviatchenko and his creations are on Erik’s walls.

There is no doubt that has a passion for art and aesthetics that he inherited from his father. This was clear to see as he described the beautiful art throughout his home.

My father’s art is an integral part of our home and it means a great deal to me. It reminds me of my roots and of our family.

My wife is my high school sweetheart and she also developed a passion for art over the years. So having art on our walls is a natural thing.

The blending of the decor with the furniture is also important to us. Certain materials are overpowering, but it has to blend in with the other tones in the space.

Sustainability seems like a passion of yours. Does this come into play with your home decor?

Sustainability is an essential part of our home decor and it also has to provide quality and longevity.

We have a number of items from years ago and we like that they are still enjoyable today. We don’t have to keep buying the newest and shiniest things. That’s how we prefer to do things.

We prefer to buy quality sustainable products that last a long time. Sustainability is essential to everything we buy. We try to buy sustainable products wherever possible.

In your text to WoodUpp, you mentioned you were looking for a product exactly like ours for a while? Can you expand on that a bit more?

We wanted to add more natural elements to our home and then we came across your product. When my wife and I saw WoodUpp and how easy it was to install, we knew it was right for us. It gave us the exact aesthetics we wanted for a while. We wanted a contrast to break up our large white walls.

That’s what we meant in a nutshell when I texted you.

There is a walk-in closet at the back of the bedroom that has an entrance on each side. Of course, there is a bed.

There is direct access to a first-floor terrace from one of the bedroom entrances. The terrace wraps around the house to a garden. Opening the doors in the morning must be a joyful occasion.

They had only planned on using slat walls on the ceiling. Once it was installed, the couple was inspired to install another slat wall at the home’s entrance.

Our WoodUpp walls have gotten lots of positive comments and we are not just saying that, it is really true!

We entertain friends and family on a regular basis and when we invite them over we tell them “Come see our new wall.”

It is amazing the number of positive comments and feedback we have received on the wall. And it blends in perfectly with our lovely home. We are happy when our guests have nice things to say about our wall.

We are so happy to hear that! What is the best thing you have gotten from installing the slat wall so far?

The best thing so far I would say is the contrast it gave to our home decor. Having too much of one thing isn’t aesthetically pleasing, so the contrast really added beauty to our home.

The wall adds great expression to the room while also adding warmth. I really love what it has given us.

Were they easy to install?

Ok I must admit that I’m not the world’s greatest handyman, so I didn’t install them myself. Feel free to leave this part out, haha.

I wanted perfection, so I got an expert craftsman to do the job. I saw him install it and it didn’t look difficult at all.

If we install another slat wall, I think I will take a stab at installing it myself. I know that we will at some point, so I’ll put my handyman skills to the test. If anyone is reading this and they are thinking of putting up a slat wall, be sure to check out WoodUpp!
