Gleneagles Hotel, Auchterarder, Perthshire required an architectural, slip resistant, waterproof finish to the pool surrounds of their prestigious Hotel Spa. Flexcrete enabled them to achieve this objective.

BACKGROUND

In keeping with the prestige nature of this exclusive resort, a unique flooring finish was required to reflect the hotel’s high standards, whilst also improving safety by providing a non-slip surface.

Equipped with jacuzzi, sauna and a Turkish bath, the swimming pool and shower surrounds of “The Club” had degraded significantly.

THE SOLUTION

Flexcrete enabled them to achieve the dual objective of a highly decorative and slip resistant floor finish. Utilising a Cemprotec E-Floor system, the effect of a drying beach was produced by incorporating different coloured quartz sands within the floor coating. This created the appearance of wet and dry sand surfaces to complement the attractive mosaic panels which line the walls. Cemprotec E-Floor is a water- borne, epoxy and cement modified polymer formulation which, unlike resin systems, can be applied to wet substrates. Cemprotec E-Floor is non-hazardous and is simple to install, curing to a waterproof film. It is ideal for use as a means of overcoming the threat of osmosis when laid beneath resin systems.
