Flexishield
Amokabel Flexishield
Flexishield is a flexible fixed wiring cable manufactured to BS8436 and IS273 standards. A key performance requirement of these standards is that the cable must "fail-safe" if penetrated by a nail. This safety feature is achieved by bonding a heavy-duty aluminum tape to the inside of the outer sheath, which is in contact with a full-size, bare earth conductor. If a nail were to pierce the cable and strike the live conductor, the fault current would be safely interrupted, preventing hazards.
This cable can be installed directly into walls, placed into cable trays, roof spaces and in ductwork without the need for any additional protection such as conduit, saving contractors up to a 40% reduction in installation times. Which within commercial and industrial projects can be a substantial cost saving.
Other features and benefits of the product include:
• Extremely lightweight and flexible
• Quick and easy to strip allowing a faster termination process within indoor and outdoor applications.
Flexishield offers the market a safer alternative to the traditional cable’s such as SWA, Twin and Earth and singles within conduit and can be installed into all commercial and industrial buildings.
Examples of past projects include:
• Barking Hospital
• Royal Chelsea hospital
• John Lewis Stores
• University of Central England
• Various schools, prisons, and council properties across the UK
The construction consists of a Low Smoke Halogen Free jacket with UV and Weather resistant stability for indoor and outdoor installations. Their range of cables come as standard from a 1.5mm to 10mm, in black and white, from 2c+e to 4c+e. Amokabel can also produce special builds with different core colours, extra cores, and different sheathing colours to a minimum order requirement.
