Client: Former Russian State
Combined contract value: £291,000
Main contractor: Good Directions Limited
Type of works: manufacture and supply of 122 clocks including CAD design, testing and shipping.
Twenty four 4-sided George-style pillar clocks were manufactured with varying dial designs and decoration. The cast-aluminium columns and GRP dial boxes were all finished in Black to match the surrounding street furniture.
Nine round and four square double-sided drum clocks with various dial and bracket styles were also created. A coat of arms was used on several of the drums.
All of the clocks were hand-finished with 23.5 carat gold leaf detailing.
To ensure accuracy, each clock feature was fitted with one of Good Directions' Total Control Systems (TCS) to synchronise each clock with the MSF atomic time signal via a GPS receiver. TCS will automatically carry out time changes, and is fitted with a battery back-up system to keep the clocks running for several days without mains power.
