Free workshop on Designing Effective Thermal Breaks

Free workshop on Designing Effective Thermal Breaks

As the topic of thermal bridging becomes more prevalent, taking the time to understand how to calculate an effective structural thermal break has never been more essential.

A workshop which brings the latest principles of thermal break design to Structural Engineers, Architects and Technicians, is being hosted by Schöck Ltd at the Institution of Structural Engineers in London, on November 9th 2016.

The various sessions will cover topics such as - how to achieve optimum thermal break solutions at cantilever connections / deflection calculation using current market software and services / how deflection can be reduced / an introduction to the latest Schöck software / and a demonstration of how other FEM software can also be used, with an overview of other available tools and software.

The keynote speaker is Maxwell Hutchinson, President of the Royal Institute of British Architects from 1989 to 1991; and broadcaster on the BBC, where he covers architecture, lifestyle and London life. Maxwell has run his own architectural practice in Central London for over 35 years. His most renowned buildings include Skylines at Canary Wharf, JS Pathology’s Headquarters at Camden Lock and Aztec Row in Islington.

Schöck has grown to become Europe’s leading supplier of innovative structural load bearing insulation products; with the main product being the Schöck Isokorb – a thermal break for almost every type of cantilever construction in new buildings and for renovation
