Frimley Health encourages better hygiene practices with Germgard

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital and healthcare services for around 900,000 people across Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey and South Buckinghamshire.

Following Fireco’s webinars and social media benefits, Peter Farmer, one of the Fire Safety Advisors at Frimley Health Wexham Park Hospital, follows Fireco on social media and attended Fireco CPD webinars throughout the pandemic.

Peter saw that Fireco were running a giveaway through their social accounts, so he entered and won Fireco’s Germgard Station. Although the hospital already had adequate hygiene practices in place, Peter felt that the Germgard would be a great addition in encouraging the use of hand sanitiser.

When Peter won the competition he chose to install the Germgard station in a non-patient area where staff carry out training and admin.

Germgard Station is a portable stand that uses a sensor and digital signage to attract the attention of the passers-by and prompts them to use the hand sanitiser before they move through the building.

As staff weren’t always able to work from home, having the Germgard in place helped to reinforce good hygiene and make building users feel at ease. Peter explains, “The Germgard Station gives an even more obvious place to sanitise upon entry to the training centre. Staff can now easily pick out a focus point for hand hygiene.

Peter goes on to say, “Fireco have been very engaging, professional and have provided a good service throughout. I would also definitely recommend watching their webinar sessions; they’ve provided me with great insight throughout the pandemic and allowed me to keep up-to-date with my CPD points.
