Fryent Primary School, Brent Council

Client: Brent Council

Form of Contract: JCT D&B 2011

Date of Completion: December 2013

Overall Contract Programme: 52 Weeks

Elliott was commissioned by London Borough of Brent to design and build a new two-storey classroom block, multi-use hall and kitchen / servery extension and refurbishment and remodelling works at Fryent Primary School in the London Borough.

The new two-storey classroom block incorporates 12 classrooms (4 classrooms each for Years 1, 2 and 3) and a range of ancillary rooms. The classroom block is connected to a new double-height flexible multi-use hall which is linked to a large kitchen / servery area and storage rooms for PE and dining hall furniture. There is a range of supporting ancillary accommodation including toilets and offices.

The buildings are constructed utilising Elliott’s hybrid building system which combines steel / timber frame with timber infill wall panels and concrete floors at both levels, with the exception of the multi-use hall which has blockwork to full height and a standing seam metal roof.

The external façade of the building is a mixture of masonry and white render throughout to match with the existing school buildings.

The Elliott team was able to complete the phased new build and refurbishment works in a 52-week construction programme from starting on site in late 2012.
