Furnitubes provides bespoke seating for Cardiff and Vale College

Furnitubes has supplied number of contemporary seats and benches for Cardiff and Vale College. The college received a £20m grant from the Welsh government to transform the delivery of education and further training courses across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. The new city centre campus sees a distinctive wedge shape building designed with a high focus on sustainability.

Furnitubes' design team worked closely with project contractors Willmott Dixon and architects BDP who were keen to encourage open welcoming spaces for students and members of the public to sit, eat & socialise. Part of the solution included a bespoke Elements Podium platform, manufactured in iroko timber slats with steel supports. The platform created informal seating to encourage interaction and socialisation amongst students.

Also supplied were four Elements seats with iroko timber slats with steel frames and supports in a galvanised finish, along with four Fortis seats in a standard grey mix with acid etched finish to complement the modern development. Neo seats were also selected to suit the character of the scheme.
