The construction of a new 3-storey boarding house above the existing playground in what is a very enclosed space. Furniture Group Manufacturing were instructed by Borras Construction to design and manufacture of the dormitory areas for the choristers, as well as provide wardrobes for new staff living spaces.

Working with the main contractor, Borras Construction, Furniture Group Manufacturing produced and installed the high end fitted dormitory furniture, including wardrobes, fitted bunk-beds, window seats and equipment cupboards.

The project required the production of a number of samples and collaborative development with both the contractor and architect to ensure the client brief was met.

The use of solid lipped panelling to allow for machined handleless doors was a particular highlight of the high-end finishes on show, alongside the developed detail of inset solid oak strips to allow for ‘v’ groove details really demonstrated Furniture Group Manufacturing Ltd’s capabilities.

In addition to the dormitory rooms, we also manufactured and installed the painted on-site tongue and groove effect wall panelling to the corridor and common room areas.

The challenges on this project were numerous from the detailed design, the tight site conditions due to location and of course the difficult conditions of working through the Covid restrictions, but with Furniture Group’s expertise they created a fantastic high-quality environment for the client.
