Composition and manufacture

White exterior grade PVC-U as standard, comprising 100% recycled material with additives for impact resistance and UV stability. Expansion joints available in twelve natural colours. Manufactured to ISO 9001:2000.

Size and weight

A full range of profiles for all common plaster and plasterboard depths are available from 2 to 12mm. Profiles with 25 or 40mm wings give greater choice for intricate detailing or increased strength and keying.

Appearance

Exposed parts of profiles are unobtrusive and can be left unpainted. Water-based paint, if required, adheres to PVC-U better than to metal and the use of coloured movement joints is aesthetically superior to traditional methods.

Performance

Complies with BS EN 13914-2:2005.
PVC-U additives provide impact resistance, transmitting shock waves and reducing damage to plaster on impact. UV stabilisers maximise life of the colour on movement joints. Products will not rust during long drying out periods. Ideal for high-moisture atmospheres like kitchens and swimming pools.

Strength

PVC-U beads provide adequate strength for plastering and dry lining. A honeycomb design in the wings and back plates maximises bead integrity and the keying area for the penetration of plaster.

Effect of fire

BS 476-7:1997, Class 1Y.
Will not contribute to the combustion of the system.

Sitework

Standard industry practice and tools can be used. PVC-U beads are safer to handle than metal beads as cut edges are not sharp.

Environment

Zinc free. There is also 100% recycled content in White beads, resulting in up to 96% less embodied energy than raw material. All beads can be recycled upon deconstruction of the building.
