A privately owned Grade II listed Georgian mansion in Cheshire has benefitted from the expert treatment of the Ornate Interiors team.
With 15 rooms in varying states of disrepair, this was an exceptionally intricate and challenging contract. Our brief was to
Retain as much of the original plasterwork as possible
Restore what could be saved
Replace what was damaged beyond repair with perfect replicas of the originals.
Some rooms only needed minor repairs, which were carried out by hand; others needed complete sections of mouldings or enrichments replaced to match the original.
The team started by painstakingly removing layers of ancient paint with steam and small picking tools. When clean, moulds were taken and new enrichments and mouldings cast in our workshop.
Ceiling roses were remodelled in clay to match the originals. Where areas of the existing haired lime plaster were removed to allow for new chases or repairs, they were replastered sympathetically using authentic materials.
