Gripsure Classic boards were used at The Wave, a world-class inland surfing lake, set in the Gloucestershire countryside on the outskirts of Bristol. Decking was required for the central pier, the Clubhouse terrace, and for boardwalks and seating areas situated within the extensive project grounds.

The team at Gripsure worked closely with APG Architecture at the design stage to specify a suitable product for the project. After visiting a number of sites where Gripsure boards are in situ in a similar environment, the design team specified our Gripsure Pro Classic boards. This board features three non-slip inserts giving an initial PTV of 100 which is the highest-rated product in the range. The design team wanted to ensure the safety of surfers as they transitioned from dry and wet zones.

Sustainability was at the heart of the project, with materials chosen for aesthetic beauty and low impact on the natural environment. Scandinavian V grade European Redwood boards are grown in sustainable forests carrying FSC or PEFC third party accreditation.

Gripsure Classic boards were installed on the central pier, giving guests the opportunity to get close to the surfers in the lake. In addition, the boards were used on the clubhouse's first-floor terrace which gives panoramic views of the site, they were also used for boardwalks and seating areas in the nature reserve by the lake.

Gripsure supplied a variety of sub-contractors on the site, making a number of deliveries throughout the build for the different areas which required decking. They helped installers with cutting advice, recommended spans, and supplied lengths to minimise wastage.

The whole team at Gripsure visited the site after completion and they were all delighted to see their boards installed at the attraction.
