Overview

The Curio Collection by Hilton project at St. Paul's Creed Court in London's City is a notable development. It involved the construction of a new 7-storey building for hotel and restaurant purposes, with a total floor area of 7,660m² and 145 bedrooms. The challenging project required the demolition of existing structures while preserving the original facade.

Challenges

Poujoulat UK, Europe’s leading manufacturer in chimney and flues, was entrusted with the task of designing, supplying, and installing flue systems to accommodate a Cummins diesel generator, an XRGI gas CHP appliance, and five ATAG gas boilers, all housed in the hotel's basement. Given the multi-level basement layout, the flue design needed to navigate a complex configuration. Furthermore, the addition of a screen at roof level necessitated an adjustment in chimney height to ensure safe evacuation of fumes away from the rooftop plant area.

Solution

Poujoulat's expertise facilitated the deployment of tailored solutions to address the project's intricacies. The installation involved the utilisation of Poujoulat's chimney systems, specifically tailored to each component's requirements:

•Dualinox, a stainless-steel twin-wall chimney system, was employed to connect the five gas boilers in a cascade system. Its design flexibility accommodated various directional changes seamlessly. The same Dualinox system was extended for the outside vertical riser, ensuring comprehensive functionality.

•For the Cummins generator, a 200mm THERM+ GEP stainless steel twin-wall chimney system was selected. Renowned for its exceptional thermal properties, THERM+ GEP guarantees optimal temperature control and efficiency throughout the exhaust system.

•Poujoulat's 80mm THERM+ CHP, a dedicated stainless-steel twin-wall exhaust chimney, was specifically engineered for CHP appliances. This solution seamlessly connected the CHP appliance exhaust from the appliance to the riser and termination point.
