How Does AliDeck's Testing Benefit You?

At AliDeck, our approach is simple: We Design, We Test, We Manufacture, and We Supply. Testing sits right at the heart of our process. Every product we bring to market is put through rigorous physical testing before it reaches your project.

But what does all this testing actually mean for you? Here, we break down each of the tests our products go through and more importantly, what each one delivers for your project.

Fire Performance:

Following the legislation and regulation changes made in the aftermath of the Grenfell fire, it is essential that all materials in the external envelope of a building are non-combustible, including on balconies. That is why we submitted our product range to fire testing at Warrington FIre, where our systems were certified as non-combustible, achieving Euroclass A2-s1, d0.

How does this benefit you?

Whether you are working on a new build or a remediation project, specifying AliDeck gives you a guaranteed route to sign-off, and gives residents a balcony that is genuinely safe to live with.
This testing proved that AliDeck systems make no contribution to fire, produce little to no smoke, and produce no flaming droplets.

Slip Resistance:

British weather is very unpredictable across the whole year, which is why we have performed slip resistance testing across our whole range of decking boards. To reach every result, we have tested in both wet and dry conditions, using two different test rubbers to reflect real-world use in both bare feet and everyday footwear.

Every AliDeck board achieved a 'Low Risk' rating for slips in all conditions. This is the highest rating achievable.

How does this benefit you?

Whether you have a balcony, terrace, or walkway, you now have peace of mind. You could step out to a balcony barefoot on a summer morning, or cross a rain-soaked walkway in January, and by choosing AliDeck, you are kept safe.

Wear Resistance:

Our boards were submitted to independent Accelerated Wear Testing, with a mechanical foot simulating 100,000 footfalls. We also conducted a Chair Leg test, dragging heavily laden weights across the board surface, to simulate furniture being moved.

Both tests resulted in zero wear on the board surface. 100,000 footfalls are equivalent of a person taking 10 steps on their balcony every single day for 27 years.

How does this benefit you?

Not only do you have decking that keeps performing and keeps looking good for decades, but you have this with minimal maintenance and no early costly replacements.

Heat Testing:

"Does aluminium decking get hot?", is one of the most common questions we hear, so we answered it with practical testing. During the UK's record-breaking 2022 heatwave, we tested aluminium, timber, and composite decking side by side in direct sunlight.

The results showed that aluminium sheds heat far more readily than timber or composite. Our boards recorded consistently cooler surface temperatures than timber and composite and cooled down quicker once out of the sun.

How does this benefit you?
You want to be able to enjoy your balcony in the heat, without worrying about the surface becoming too hot. Choosing AliDeck, gives you a balcony or terrace that keeps you comfortable and usable on the hottest days, whilst also outperforming the materials it replaces.

Wind Uplift and Structural Performance:

High winds place real stress on balconies, and terraces, particularly on taller buildings, coastal locations, and dense urban sites. Our systems are engineered with specialised wind uplift resistant fixing methods, from Z-bracket connections to ballast and mechanical fixing solutions, designed to meet the requirements of BS 8579:2020.

Alongside this, our boards and joists are tested for span and deflection, so the structural performance of every component is proven before it is specified.

How does this benefit you?

Choosing AliDeck gives you a system you can specify with confidence at height and in exposed locations, with the engineering evidence to back it up.

What All This Testing Means For Your Project?

Put simply, our testing takes the risk out of your specification:

  • Compliance with Complication. Certified fire performance gives you a clear, documented route through building regulations and sign-off.
  • Safety for the people who matter. Residents get outdoor spaces that are non-combustible, slip-safe, and comfortable to use.
  • Long-term value. Proven durability means lower lifetime costs and decking that will not need replacing in years.
  • Evidence on demand. All our test data is published and available to download on our website, giving you the paperwork to support your project from specification through to handover.

Untested products leave questions. Tested products provide answers. When you choose AliDeck, every claim we make is backed by data you can see for yourself.
