IBA Aggregate for construction of vehicle storage area

IBA Aggregate from Blue Phoenix UK was specified for the construction of a vehicle storage area at Portbury Docks.

The IBA Aggregate was used to create a capping and sub base layer at 200mm depth across the area of the Court House Farm site. The area was then to be covered by 60mm Binder/Surface Course asphalt layer.

The requirement was for 18,000 tonnes of Type 1 (impermeable) and 13,000te of Type 3 (permeable) earthworks materials.

To date Blue Phoenix UK have supplied in total circa 8,000te with an anticipated further 8,000te is still required.

The client and the suppliers agreed to take a weekly moisture content (MCV) at source and have externally tested to ensure the T1 meets the maximum 15% (13% +/-2%). The weekly sample tested provided an average of 16%. An in-situ CBR/Plate Load test as per BS 1377 was also to be frequently carried out with a proposed tolerance of a minimum 3%. Blue Phoenix UK’s T1 is achieving an average of 27%
