Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems and Hollybrook Construction supplied Comar 2 window walling, Comar 5P.i thermally broken windows, Comar 6 curtain walling, Comar 7 and 7P.i doors and Duco louvre blades for a new-build, mixed-use development, comprising of retail units and apartments, in Basildon, Essex. The retail units have been let to New Campus Basildon (NCB) which forms part of the South East Essex College facilities.

Comar 2 window walling was used for the framing and commercial swing Comar 7 pivot doors were installed to the main shopfront entrances, fitted with AXIM concealed overhead door closers with a 90º hold-open facility and anti-finger trap stiles. Comar 7P.i doors were installed to the balconies in the apartments.

Comar 5P.i tilt-and-turn windows, internally beaded, were fitted with chrono gearing. Duco trickle vents through Comar head extension bars, providing minimum free airflow of 8,000mm2 per vent, were also installed.

Comar 6 curtain walling stick-build with standard capping, pressure equalised, externally glazed, was selected to create large contemporary entrances and glazed areas to contrast with the brick and cladded building. Duco 7106/70V louvre blades mounted on 50/50 vertical mullions were also fitted to the building’s façade. All Comar systems were finished in a matt Dark Grey RAL 7016 colour polyester powder-coat to BS 6496.

All Comar approved fabricators are required to have the technical expertise to attend pre-site meetings and provide detailing. Hollybrook Construction and Comar liaised closely with the specifiers to provide design advice and detailing which ensured the project ran smoothly and met site deadlines.
