Sesame Access Systems have installed their Kensington Stairlift at a Grade II Listed Building in Whitehall, London.
The building, which is over 300 years old, contains offices and conference rooms where government ministers, national leaders and foreign dignitaries meet.
Working with architects Feilden & Mawson and main contractors Bouygues E & S FM UK Ltd., Sesame provided a bespoke 5 step Kensington stairlift, incorporating their innovative low profile scissor lift to accommodate the limited pit space that was available.
Additional special features were added at the request of the client, for example the upper landing barrier gate was replaced with a rope. British Standards require a switch barrier on the upper landing, however, in this instance, special permission was granted to use a rope instead. This was allowed as the lift is always to be operated by a member of staff.
