Balcony manufacturer and supplier Sapphire Balconies has unveiled the Next Generation Balcony, their most sustainable balcony yet. Sapphire took the stage at the midpoint of Vision Construct’s first day to reveal the Next Generation Balcony. This suite of innovations included a reduced weight frame, an ultra-low carbon framework, increased aesthetic possibilities and developments that make the Next Generation Balcony safer for installers thanks to their award-winning Remote Locker Device.

Vision Construct 2023 took place on the 25th of October 2023 at Wembley Stadium. The construction trade event, hosted by Resibuild Events and The Institute of Construction Management (ICM), was home to multiple exhibitors, construction influencers and decision-makers across both the construction industry and governing bodies.

Presenting at Vision Construct were exciting exhibitors showing off the latest from their respective fields. Partner attendees included Sapphire Balconies, MyDek, Efectis, Thermosphere and many more. Presentations took place from key speakers across these companies, bringing a wave of interesting information to the residential construction industry.

At the first day’s close, Sapphire Balconies took to the “Winners Stage” to announce the Next Generation Balcony. Expected to be a game-changer for the external envelope space, the Next Generation Balcony was touted as being lighter, using less raw material, making it kinder to the environment. It was also revealed to use innovative solutions like the patented Remote Locker Device to increase safety and ensure that installers will no longer need to step out onto a balcony before it is fully secured to the façade. Finally, the Next Generation Balcony has more possibilities than ever before, able to be customised to the developer’s liking and secured with whichever connection method is most suitable for the project.

Key figures from across the construction industry attended Vision Construct. VIPs included Sir Ken Knight (Former Commissioner of the London Fire Brigade), Michaela Wain (Design & Build UK), David Jones (ICM), James Allen (AITCo Consulting), and Johnny Furlong (L&Q). The main topics for all panel debates and presentations were clear throughout. Fire safety as always was a core topic and lent itself to conversations about competency, carbon and sustainability. Regulation change was also discussed alongside the External Envelope, the economy, innovation, new technology, digital advances, apprenticeships and labour.
