Kingspan supplies flooring for award winning building

Nearly 20,000 square metres of Kingspan access flooring has been installed at ‘Sixty London at 60 Holborn Viaduct’, a prestigious London office development.

Balfour Beatty’s ‘Sixty London at 60 Holborn Viaduct’ project won the ‘Best large Commercial Building’ category at the London region Local Authority and Building Control (LABC) Building Excellence Awards.

The project delivered a new 13 floor state-of-the-art office building, which was occupied by world leading brand, Amazon, ahead of completion.

The building is built to high sustainability standards with features such as a solar heated hot water supply and automatic lighting controls, which adjust luminance according to sunlight.

The building has been awarded BREEAM ‘Excellent’ status, the world's foremost environmental assessment method and rating system for buildings.

Kingspan played its part in helping the building to gain this top level accreditation – the company’s panels have FSC Chain of Custody certification and Kingspan recycled all panel off-cuts so that they could be put back into the manufacturing process.

The construction project saw the blending of modern new features, such as hundreds of individually-shaped glazed units with historical aspects, such as the reinstatement of the original gatehouse and a statue of one of the City of London’s historic patrons, Sir Hugh Middleton, which had been destroyed in the London Blitz.
