Liverpool One

Liverpool One

Client: Liverpool One
Archiect: Grosvenor
Type of works: supply and installation of emergency lighting systems and the the award-winning Netcom 5XP monitoring facility.

In what is believed to be the largest emergency lighting installation in Europe with centralised monitoring and testing facilities. Ventilux has supplied emergency luminaries, static inverters, sub-distribution control units and an integrated central test and monitoring system, for the Liverpool One project formerly known as the Paradise Street Project in Liverpool.

The massive development by Grosvenor comprised of 30 major buildings, including banks, Debenhams, John Lewis and a list of key major retailers. With a newly revamped park and leisure galleria, key restaurants, bars and a multi screen Odeon Cinema. Liverpool One has transformed the city with an additional 3,200 car park spaces together with a new bus interchange station.

Ventilux supplied all the emergency lighting systems for the Landlord Areas, with over 4,000 fittings, these included both self-contained luminaries and central battery systems. The majority of the fittings are fed by central battery systems ranging from 5 to 40kVA. All elements of the emergency lighting system incorporated the award-winning Netcom 5XP monitoring facility, linked back to one control panel located within the Liverpool One control suite. The key features of the Netcom 5XP system is that each building is monitored and tested in non-operational hours automatically, logging the results and alerting the Liverpool One help desk to any faults without logging onto the system.

Together with the comprehensive alarm manager facility, there is a Graphical Interface Application allowing full connectivity via a site plan based with vectored graphics allowing users to zoom in and out of independent areas.

Many of the emergency luminaries used on the project are mains luminaries that where adapted and retested by Ventilux. The ability to adapt emergency luminaries from other manufacturers for use with the system is a significant feature of the Ventilux offering. The units where modified in Ventilux’ own workshops and retested to ICEL, BS and international standards.
