Louth Leisure Centre

Louth Leisure Centre

Client: East Lindsey District Council
Contractor: Mark Cobb Installations
Type of works: supply of VRF systems.

VRF systems from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHIE) have been supplied by 3D Air Sales for the new Louth Leisure Centre - a £12million project by East Lindsey District Council, Lincolnshire.

The new leisure facility provides a sports hall, swimming pool, fitness suite and café as well as other multi-use rooms.

Louth Leisure Centre’s MHIE air conditioning system was installed by Mark Cobb Installations of Lincoln and includes five KX systems feeding 25 indoor cassette units in the public and fitness areas. All the units are controlled from a single SLA2 central controller linked to the Leisure Centre’s building management system. Heavy cooling loads are required to maintain an ideal temperature for fitness areas of 16oC, but the Council are naturally obliged to achieve maximum efficiency of energy usage. MHIE claims industry-leading energy efficiency for the KX, reducing both running costs and environmental impact.

The MHIE system devised by 3D and Mark Cobb met the stringent specifications at the most reasonable cost of installation and in use. For installer Mark Cobb, this was the first time he had worked with MHIE equipment and 3D. “In the current business climate, we need to explore every way of delivering value to our customers”, says Mark: “the high levels of performance and efficiency delivered by KX systems enabled us to meet the specification at a competitive cost.”

According to 3D Air Managing Director, Richard Ward, VRF systems from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries are being installed in a number of leisure centres around the UK. He said: “The high efficiency – one of the best in the industry – at a reasonable price is appealing to developers who have to meet heavy cooling loads with restricted budgets and tight energy use requirements.”
