Lollipop toilet cubicles are designed specifically to meet the needs of young children.
The project
Lyons Hall Primary in Essex is recognised by Ofsted as an ‘Outstanding’ school and has experienced continuous rapid growth and improvement over recent years.
It is one of three schools in the Learning Pathways Academy Trust which aims for excellence in all standards, pursued with relentless commitment. It fosters an outward-looking culture, always seeking better answers and innovating with courage to make their schools exciting and vibrant learning environments.
Lyons Hall’s success resulted in the need for a new teaching block to meet the demand for extra places.
The challenge
Laurie Wood Associates, Award-Winning RIBA Chartered Architects, were chosen to undertake the development. As an existing client of Venesta Washrooms,
they were confident of our ability to meet the standards set by Lyons Hall and the Academy Trust. They needed a supplier of washroom systems with an extensive product range and outstanding customer service. The first phase required school toilets for the early years pupils and washroom solutions for general use.
The solution
Lollipop toilet cubicles
are specifically designed to meet the needs of young children. The range offers a fun design that encourages children to use the toilet when needed, a key consideration for their physical and mental wellbeing in those early school years.
The extra rigidity created by the unique pedestal design, and Rapiduct High Pressure Laminate (HPL) panelling, provides an extremely robust yet economical washroom solution.
Laurie Wood chose the fun-shaped doors to allow for adult supervision where it’s required. Lollipop toilet cubicles also offer great safety features such as anti-finger trap hinges and a magnetic catch option instead of a lock. And chunky grey ABS lockable toilet roll holders and coat hooks provide strong yet cost-effective accessories to complement the look.
Lyons Hall Primary School had total colour flexibility with a selection of 34 laminate finishes to choose from for their new washroom facilities, opting for blue tones to suit the school's colours. These colours complemented the Light Grey ABS fittings used on the toilet cubicles.
Lollipop's anti-finger trap hinges, which come as standard, reduce the risk of students injuring themselves; while the emergency access indicator bolts allow staff at the school to gain entry to the cubicles without the need to remove or damage the cubicle doors.
Lyons Hall Primary School now has school washrooms that children want to use. The school's staff are proud to show off their school toilets to prospective parents as an example of their commitment to high standards throughout the school.
