The project.
Founded in 1480 by William Waynflete, Magdalen College School (MCS), based in the heart of Oxford, is a friendly, inclusive and highly distinctive school of 900 pupils, aged 7-18.

Waynflete, believing in education as a facilitator of social mobility, wanted to establish a school of an entirely new kind; a school that would be at the heart of a new and exciting proposition, the university. MCS is now one of the country’s leading schools.

The challenge.
The project to renovate the washroom cubicles at Magdalen College School was part of the estate’s refurbishment programme in 2015, by Grey Baynes and Shew Architects.

Magdalen College School wanted a washroom renovation that captured the essence of the school by using a simple, yet striking design.

The solution.
MCS specified Venesta’s Unity flush fronted toilet cubicles in Solid Grade Laminate (SGL) for the redevelopment of the boys’ toilets in the Senior School area. Their Vepps pre-plumbed panelling system in SGL was also specified, along with Solid Surface vanity units and complementary Ideal Standard vessel basins.

With clean, modern lines and a "floating" flush front, Venesta’s Unity cubicle range was the perfect choice for MCS. A full height cubicle range with stainless steel fittings and set back pedestals, Unity provides a seamless, durable washroom environment, with low floor clearance for privacy. With discreet emergency release mechanism indicator bolts, the range is an ideal choice for education environments, where safety is paramount.

Their Vepps (IPS) pre-plumbed panelling system meant that installation was quick and straightforward. The Ideal Standard sanitaryware was pre-plumbed and tested in their factory, so that installation was completed in just four easy steps, reducing the need for specialist onsite skills. High strength, linear-bearing hinges allow for the panels to be positioned at different heights, meaning maintenance of the washroom facilities couldn’t be simpler.

The school was able to ensure their installation was completed quickly and to a high standard using Vepps; the fully engineered metal-framed pre-plumbed system offers even faster installation, even easier ongoing maintenance and a much wider range of sanitaryware options, all at a lower cost.
