Manufacturing Sustainability Conference a success

EMSc (UK) Ltd, manufacturer of the Star® range of energy saving solutions, is proud to announce that its inaugural Manufacturing Sustainability Conference, which took place at the Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham on Tuesday, 18th September 2012, was a resounding success.

The conference, delivered in partnership with Made in Sheffield, attracted 109delegates from around the country, with representatives from multi-national manufacturing companies benefiting from a diverse range of keynote addresses and interactive activities.

The event also drew representatives from large corporate businesses, as well as the public sector organisations, who were keen to learn how sustainability can provide a real competitive advantage in a challenging marketplace.

A number of renowned industry bodies and associations – including environmental manufacturing specialists AESSEAL – lent their support to the conference, which featured various keynote speakers, including Dr Alex Mardapittas, EMSc (UK) Ltd managing director, and Brian Young, director general of the British Frozen Food Federation (BFFF) and Martyn Clark, Technical Director of Blue Castle Group.

Commenting on the conference Dr Mardapittas said: “The conference was aimed at providing a platform to promote innovative British manufacturing as well as to provide the manufacturing sector with comprehensive information relating to sustainability issues and ways to improve energy efficiency, and we are proud to say that it proved to be a great success. We received an outstanding amount of support from manufacturing companies from around the country, as well as from public sector oganisations and large corporates.”

The Manufacturing Sustainability Conference was the first event in a sector-specific series planned by EMSc (UK) Ltd, who is currently celebrating over 10 years of British design and manufacturing success – it has been manufacturing the market leading voltage optimisation solution Powerstar at its headquarters in Yorkshire for over a decade.

The company is accredited with the Made in Sheffield accolade in acknowledgement of the quality of its manufacturing process, its expansion into international markets, and the overall success of Powerstar, which is exported to countries including Cyprus, Australia, UAE, South Africa, Greece, Malta, Bahrain and Spain. The company has been awarded with ISO9001 and are an NICEIC approved contractor.
