The low maintenance benefits and an aesthetic sympathetic to its location led to the specification of Marley’s corrosion-resistant profiled sheeting as an external cladding solution for an award-winning development by designers, Soup Architects, called The Studios. The project has been built within a mature landscaped garden on an existing residential plot at Aldeburgh in Suffolk.

The owner’s intention is to use the two studio spaces as retreat locations, setting them within a tranquil, contemplative part of the garden. As such, the low maintenance benefits of fibre cement profiled sheeting, together with its attractive appearance, were key components in the design-led decision to clad the studios’ exteriors with the Marley solution.

Jamie Le Gallez, Director at Soup Architects, commented: “Not only does the project bring to life the heritage of the family, but by using profiled sheeting in this way, it also vividly complements the vernacular style of the many agricultural outbuildings populating the surrounding area, helping The Studios to sit seamlessly within the landscape.” The success of The Studios project has been highlighted through its selection as a RIBA Regional Award Winner 2015.
