Marley relaunches range with new lower pitch

Leading provider of roofing solutions, Marley, has relaunched its ever-popular Mendip roof tile with a new lower pitch capability of just 15° giving the tile a greater range of use.

The Mendip concrete interlocking tiles have been subjected to thorough testing including rigorous wind-driven rain. The results of this test program proved that, after a few adaptations to the production process, smooth finish Mendip tiles can now be used at minimum pitches as low as 15°, a substantial 7.5° lower than previously recommended.

Andrew McKnight, head of technical development at Marley, said: “There are still ongoing market requirements to be able to tile at a lower pitch so we decided to upgrade our well-established Mendip range to integrate those capabilities. The new lower pitch is ideal for the extension market, as it provides greater scope for single-storey extensions that need to fit below a first-floor window. As the smooth finish is available in a variety of different colours it can easily be used to match the tiling on house and extension roofs.

“It’s also suitable for re-roofing as many houses built 10-20 years ago have lower pitched roofs. Mendip’s asymmetrical design gives it a subtle visual appeal while the tile itself is exceptionally strong, meaning fewer breakages during installation.”

Mendip tiles measure 330 x 420mm and are available in two finishes; smooth and granular. The smooth finish tiles are available in five different colours including Mosborough Red, Old English Dark Red, Smooth Brown, Smooth Grey and Anthracite while the granular finish tiles are available in Dark Red and Antique Brown. They have a net covering capacity of 9.7 tiles/m2 at a 75mm headlap and 10.5 tiles/m2 at a 100mm headlap.
