Maxwood launches 'Return-to-Site' hand washing solutions for construction

The expansion of coronavirus testing means that construction workers showing symptoms will now be able to get tested, which is great news for the industry.

But as employers set their minds to planning a return to work to get their business up and running as fast as possible, health and protection for workers is a major issue and it’s clear there’s a lot of concern.

While there has been a lot of discussion about the viability of social distancing measures, surprisingly there’s been rather less mention of the importance of hand washing. That is something that needs to be addressed urgently.

The old workplace environment is no longer adequate to meet the new challenge and working environments, such as construction sites, will need hand-washing stations placed at regular intervals across the site.

Over the last couple of months Maxwood have been working closely with the healthcare sector to provide these critical amenities and the company’s innovation team has now turned its attention to creating the right solutions for the construction sector as well.

Maxwood have designed a new range of hand wash stations, specifically designed with the needs of the construction sector in mind. The new ConstructaMax range provides an easy-fit solution and contains a compact option for those with space restrictions.

The company believe that it is crucial for hand washing to be a high priority on every site. That means placing facilities at every stairwell on each floor plate, so that site operatives can wash their hands before entering and when exiting a level. Hand washing facilities should be placed carefully on a floor plate near busy areas to ensure site operatives can take regular breaks to wash their hands.

Managing Director Rolf McMullan said “We’ve been actively supporting the NHS during the past few weeks, providing our MediMax Handwash stations for the emergency hospital projects nationally, and now wish to give a helping hand to our own construction trade as it seeks to safely return to work sites, where staff health and wellbeing is a premium.”
