Mechanical smoke ventilation at the Grade II listed former Linotype factory

Project
Egerton Park development includes a collection of apartments, mews homes and detached houses.

The L&M Building is the old Linotype and Machinery Building. Once the entrance and office block, and only remaining part of the once substantial Linotype factory in Altrincham. The impressive building has been repurposed and is now home to a range of unique apartments.

System
Dyer provided a mechanical smoke ventilation system for the Grade II listed former Linotype factory.

At ground floor level, natural ventilation is provided with three certified windows along the corridors either side of the stairwell. Two exterior doors will also be released when the smoke detection is activated.

At first floor level, a mechanical smoke control system is provided by smoke extract fans, with inlet air being provided via the head of stairwell smoke ventilator.

A separate corridor mechanical system is present from the first floor to attic level. It is provided by smoke extract fans, with inlet air being provided via the head of stairwell smoke ventilator.

Dyer service and maintain this system, ensuring its continued reliability.
